How to take a soil sample
How to measure your lawn
1. In order to apply the correct amount of fertilizer, you must know how much area to fertilize. Please specify the dimensions in feet or metres. Measure the length and multiply by the width to calculate the total square area of your lawn.
2. Complete the customer information form provided in the soil test kit. Ensure all information is filled in accurately to avoid delay.
3. Acquire Soil Sample: using a soil sampling tube and knife or other sharp instrument, cut out plugs 1" x 2–4" deep. Take soil from 4 areas of your lawn. Remove any grass, then mix these individual samples thoroughly in a clean pail or basket, breaking up any lumps as you mix. Fill the plastic bag, provided in the kit, of the blended soil.
4. Keep the second copy of your customer information sheet for your records and put the original copy with the soil sample inside the postage paid box. Put the soil bag in the the box with the customer information sheet. Seal the box well at both ends. Place in the mail. No additional postage is required.
5. Once your soil sample is processed by the lab, you will receive your results in 7–10 business days.
