ORGANO-SOL®
Liquid Lacto-Fermented Herbicide

Registration NO: 29918 Pest-Control Products Act

Description:
ORGANO-SOL® is made of dairy products fermented by lactic acid bacteria. It is used against various weeds in established lawns. ORGANO-SOL® is registered in Canada for commercial use (No. 29603).

Net content:
10L

Targeted weeds:
White clover (Trifolium repens), red clover (T. pratense), bird’s-foot trefoil (Lotus corniculatus), black medick (Medicago lupulina) and wood sorrel (Oxalis spp.).

Active ingredients:
Citric acid and lactic acid.

Mode of action:
The organic acids produced during fermentation damage the cells of the targeted
weeds and cause tissue necrosis.

Directions for use:
Read the label before using. Shake well before use.ORGANO-SOL® can be
applied as broadcast and spot treatments:

Broadcast applications: Mix 25% of ORGANO-SOL® with 3% of surfactant and 72% of water.

Spot applications (localized applications): Mix 50% of ORGANO-SOL® with 3% of surfactant
and 47% of water.

Recommended surfactants are those containing 83% paraffin mineral oil and 17% blend of
surfactants, example: XA Oil Concentrate, Kornoil Concentrate, and Assist Oil Concentrate. LI700 has proved to be an excellent surfactant but when it is used with ORGANO-SOL®, it should be
applied at a temperature of 25°C or less to prevent phytotoxicity to the grass.

ORGANO-SOL® should be used in conjunction with a sound turf maintenance program to maximize its effectiveness. Do not apply to recently emerged grasses

The application of ORGANO-SOL® can start in May or later. The application should be repeated
every 14 days for a total of at least 5 applications in a season.

The mix must be applied using a standard or industrial sprayer with 40° flat-fan spray and either a 001 or a 003 nozzle (avoid jet or rain spray because the droplets are too big). Moisten foliage of the weeds with a maximum rate of 200 ml/m2, but avoid runoff.

Precautions:
Keep out of reach of children. Skin and eye irritant. ORGANO-SOL® contains the
allergen milk (Whey protein). Read the label before using.

Storage:
Keep in a cool place, away from the sun light. Before use, shake or stir the product
thoroughly to assure an uniform suspension. Keep from freezing.

Costs estimation
Those examples were calculated in order to give an idea of the costs related to the use of ORGANO-SOL®.
The volumes were measured when using the recommended material (the flat-fan spray and a 001 nozzle).
However, the volumes may vary depending on the operator or the material used. Also, the price was
estimated but could fluctuate.

For a Spot treatment
Mix 50% of ORGANO-SOL® with 3% of surfactant and 47% of water.

Considering a piece of land where 25 to 30% of the grass would be infested with weeds. If we
measure the volume of solution required to treat only the infested area, we would end up spraying
around 1 litre of the solution for an area of a thousand squared feet. Since there is 50% of Organo-
sol in the solution, we would be using 0.5 litre of solution/1000ft2 . At this rate, a 10L jug of Organo-
Sol can cover 20 000 ft2. A litre of Organo-Sol usually sells around $11 and 4 treatments should be
enough, when using LI 700, to have a good control over the season.

Cost for a season: 0.5L X $11/L= 5.5$/treatment
5.5$/treatment X 4 treatments = $22.00 per season

For a Broadcast treatment
25% of ORGANO-SOL® with 3% of surfactant and 72% of water

If we have a field with a lot of weeds and we want to spray everywhere, we would be using
approximately 4 litres of solution for a thousand squared feet. Since we have 25% of Organo-Sol
in the mix, we will be using 1 litre of Organo-Sol for this area. At this rate, a 10L jug would cover 10
000 ft2. A litre of Organo-Sol usually costs around 11$ and usually 4 treatments should be enough,
when using LI 700, to have a good control over the season.

Cost for a season: $11/treatment X 4 treatments = $44

The overall cost for spraying an area of a 1000 squared feet would be $44 per season.
